going out

The importance of establishing and maintaining a Going Out program.

The second plane child needs a dual environment; one that expands past the four walls of the classroom.

As we help guide our children in this plane, we have the responsibility of helping to prepare them for the society in which they will enter. Having a Going Out program is vital to the important work and to helping the children achieve their fullest potential.

Establishing a Going Out Program

Recently, I spoke at the Hope Montessori Educational Institute Conference about establishing a going-out program in elementary environments.

You can find that slide deck HERE.

I am currently adding to the presentation and recording it so those who missed the conference or presentation can access it.

The presentation was only an hour, and this is a topic I could talk about FOR DAYS, so I am currently working on the updated slides and recording the presentation. It may come out in chunks or as a whole, I’m not sure yet. However, I am determined to get it done and post it here in some form.

Public Service Announcement

This is a huge undertaking.

Keep in mind:

There is no need to have a full-blown Going Out program right away. Honestly, it’s not a good idea to start implementing it fully right away. It’s a lot to do all at once, and you’ll want to be strategic about rolling it out.

There are many types of Going Outs, and you can choose a place or type that works for you and your community. The goal should be working towards creating as full a Going Out Program as your school provides.

Start with what you can, and don’t feel pressure. Part of the process is being a prepared adult, so allow the time to prepare yourself.
